Endemic to Taiwan, Formosan Laughing Thrust is a bird of high mountains. Mostly found in temperate forests in mountain areas at elevations between 2,000 to 3,000m, it has been observed in Hehuan Mountain 3,200m above sea level. It also moves to lower mountain areas at an elevation of 1000m to winter. A common resident in Taiwan, the bird is quite active in dense bushes, and they have been spotted in tribal villages or around lodges, picking garbage. Feeds on fruits and insects. The bird is not afraid of people and its song is full, clear and sonorous.
