Endemic to Taiwan, but can be found in Tibet, Himalayas, north Myanmar, Southeast Asia, Yunnan Province and Sichuan Province of China, Borneo and Sumatra. Formosan Yuhina usually inhabits in temperate forests in mountain areas at elevations between 2,000 to 2,500m, but some have also seen the bird in areas at an elevation of over 3,000m. The bird often stays in flocks looking for insects, nectar and fruits for food. Three to four pairs of parents cooperate to build bowl-like nests with mosses, ferns and twigs and share the responsibility to care for youngsters.
