Taiwan Barwing (Formosan Barwing)
Actinodura morrisoniana
Length: 19 cm

A babbler of the subspecies morri-soniana found in coniferous/broadleaf forests on mountain range at elevations from 1,500 to 3,500m. The bird usually moves to lower slopes to winter. A common resident in Taiwan, Formosan Barwing often stays in small flocks and moves among branches seeking small insects, larva, green leaves and berries for food. They are not lively and alert by nature. When they fly in the air, one will be able to see the white edge of their tail feathers.
