尺蠖屬於昆蟲綱，鱗翅目，是尺蛾科昆蟲幼蟲的統稱。尺蠖身體細長，行動時一屈一伸像個拱橋，休息時，身體能斜向伸直如枝狀。屬完全變態。成蟲稱為尺蛾，翅大，體細長有短毛，觸角絲狀或羽狀。

Inchworm is a collective name for the larvae of the family Geometridae, order Lepidoptera, and class Insecta. Inchworms are slender and move by bending and stretching. At rest, they can extend obliquely into branch-like forms. After complete metamorphosis, they become adult geometer moths with large wings, a slender body covered in short hairs, and antennae that are filiform or feathery.
