海洋中許多魚群,運動模式有如一個有機體,這是個體本能反應的共同展現;甚至可用相對簡單的數學模型模擬魚群運動。人工魚礁之所以可以聚集魚群,是因其結構改變當地原有的海流形成渦流,以揚起積沉於底部的營養物質,使浮游生物大量繁殖,並吸引高級消費者進駐,形成新的食物鏈。本作品攝於北臺灣幾處人造魚礁,豐富食物吸引黃雞魚群來覓食,成為本系列拍攝的主角。

Introduction

In the ocean, schools of fish move as if a single organism. This is due to the coordinated instinctive reactions of each individual. Relatively simple mathematical models can be used to simulate this. In northern Taiwan, I chose several artificial reefs to photograph fish schools. Artificial reefs change local currents, forming vortices that stir sedimentary nutrients from the bottom. Plankton multiply, attracting higher-level consumers, and forming new food chains. Schools of chicken grunt, attracted by rich food sources, became the subjects of this series of photos.
