花蓮豐濱鄉新社部落的噶瑪蘭族人，運用智慧改造海階，成為減少耕地水土流失的梯田。梯田同時也是天然的水壩，能儲存水量外，還能容納各種小動物和昆蟲來此居住，維持生態系統的多樣性，展現原住民對土地的高效利用，更成為自然美景。使用空拍機拍攝花蓮夏季海岸的曙光，橘黃色的光芒，映射在海面上，與開始變成金黃色的梯田相互呼應。

The indigenous Kavalan people of Xinshe Community in Hualien County’s Fengbin Township have transformed marine terraces into rice terraces that reduce soil erosion in cultivated land. Terraced paddies are natural dams, storing water and providing habitats for many small animals and insects, to maintain a diverse ecosystem. Showing the efficient use of land by the Kavalan, it has become a natural beauty. With a drone, Hualien’s coastline was photographed at dawn on a summer morning. The orange and yellow light reflected on the surface of the sea echoes the hints of gold in the terraced rice paddies.
